The Province of Manitoba Health Care system does not cover fees for psychological services. Many people, however, have extended health care coverage through an employer benefits package or a private insurance plan.
Please note: We do not offer direct billing to insurance providers. Payment is due at the time of service, and you will be provided with a receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
To understand your coverage, we recommend that you:
- Review your benefits brochure: This document outlines the amount and type of coverage available for psychological services.
- Check for referral requirements: Some plans require a referral from your family doctor before you can be reimbursed.
- Inquire about family coverage: Many extended health plans also cover spouses and children.
- Consider tax benefits: Depending on your total medical expenses for the year, psychological services may qualify as a medical expense on your income tax return.
